Shadow-ASL-Interpreted Play - Blithe Spirit
Studio One presents an ASL Shadowed production of Blithe Spirit, bringing the ASL interpreters on stage alongside the actors!
Summary:
Blithe Spirit is a witty and charming comedy by Noël Coward. The play follows the story of Charles Condomine, a novelist who, while researching for his next book, invites a medium, Madame Arcati, to perform a séance. Things take a supernatural turn when the ghost of Charles’ first wife, Elvira, is accidentally summoned and begins to create chaos in his current marriage to his second wife, Ruth. Full of sharp dialogue and humorous twists, Blithe Spirit is a delightful exploration of love, jealousy, and the afterlife.
This is an ASL shadowed production. This production brings ASL interpreters onstage as part of the storytelling. Interns from UNC Greensboro’s interpreting program serve as the interpreters and co-storytellers alongside the actors. The interpreters are brought onstage as part of the actions, instead of being off to the side. Every performance of the ASL shadowed production is interpreted and accessible for Deaf and hard of hearing audiences.
