On Saturday, April 20th, we celebrated the 30th annual Human Race event! We had a lucky break in the rain to meet up at the Greensboro Country Park, engage with folks at our resource table, and tackle a tough 3 mile course.
We appreciate all of our CSDHH team members for coming out and supporting our vision of building long lasting inclusion in Greensboro. All together we had 2 runners, 6 walkers, and 4 supporters.

Even though the race was over, CSDHH continued our fundraising efforts through May 31st. Our goal was to raise $1,000 fundraising for the Evans-Melton Communication Access fund, making it the first time since 2020. In the final hours of the last day, we received several donations that helped us pass this goal! Eighteen donors made their gifts to the CSDHH team totaling $1,226.29!

All donations will go into the Evans-Melton Communication Access fund which helps fill gaps in the community where the Americans with Disabilities Act does not cover. This fund pays for professional ASL interpreters, CART, and SSP services in these unique situations. This fund was established in 2018 by two UNC Greensboro students majoring in Advocacy and Services for the Deaf: Shannon Melton (now Okean) and Elice Evans who wanted to see more accessibility in the community.
We are grateful to The Volunteer Center for hosting The Human Race for the past 30 years! Their commitment to build connections between nonprofits and the local community is tremendous! The Human Race has and continues to be a great way for CSDHH staff to exchange resources with other nonprofits and to raise a greater awareness of accessibility resources. We appreciate Rebecca McMillion and Zoe Ponce for providing ASL interpreting for this event.
