Deaf Awareness Day 2024

Our 9th Annual Deaf Awareness Day was a great success! The event was a Sunday afternoon this year, and almost 100 people were present and enjoyed the phenomenal weather! We also set up an informational table for the general audience, so that anyone at the game could learn about the services provided by CSDHH and by DSDHH.

Two Deaf Education students from Grimsley High School signed the National Anthem, and Brian Poe threw the first pitch! Brian coaches the Thomasville High Bulldogs, and many of his team members surprised him by showing up at the game to show their support!

Two of our attendees also got to participate in some of the Grasshoppers' fun activities, and each won a prize!

We also partnered with Cynthia Poupard of Cynthia's Creations & More, and 9 lucky winners received a cup with a custom design by Cynthia. We also gave each of the National Anthem signers and Brian Poe a cup as a small token of our appreciation. Thank you, Cynthia!

We value this year and every year our partnership with the Greensboro Regional Center of the Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to plan and coordinate this event, as well as to help ensure this event is accessible and fun for all.

Thanks to everyone who attended this event, and we can't wait for our 10th annual event next year!

The Human Race 2020

This event was a special cause for celebration! Not only was the Race to the Fundraising Finish Line program a success but, CSDHH reached a new record-breaking fundraising total! Previously in 2018, we raised $2,250 for the newly established Evans-Melton Access Fund. Now two years later, the same fund is still benefiting from the community’s support in the amount of $2,444.65! This accomplishment is more than just a dollar value. It represents a strong community who shares in the same vision of Access for All even in this time of hardship. We may be separated by distance but we are clearly united by our love of community! CSDHH Fundraising Total Passes Previous Years!

We broke more than just fundraising records in this year’s Human Race event! Thanks to all of our donors, team members, and active social media supporters, who helped launch CSDHH into the top 10 out of 78 participating nonprofits! This is a proud first in our history! When we started the 2020 campaign, we did not set out to be one of the top teams. Our only goal then and now has been to share our vision of Access for All. It was a collective belief in that vision that lifted CSDHH to this position. We’ve said it several times in several ways but the team at CSDHH values our community and their support!

Thanks to Donors

We are celebrating all those who donated to the CSDHH Team! Collecting $2,444.65 doesn’t just happen because we wish it to happen! It takes the collective power of caring folks who open up their wallets to support change in their community. We had almost 40 donors to thank for helping to grow the Evans-Melton Access Fund. On behalf of the entire CSDHH team, thanks to the donors for their!

Thanks to Team Members

We sorely missed running and cheering on our CSDHH team members this year! Even though we couldn’t line up together at the start line, our team members turned out some of their personal best times! Of our 18 registered team members, 3 placed within the top 10 overall! Congratulations! This is an incredible accomplishment that also helped to spotlight CSDHH’s Evans-Melton Access Fund. The team at CSDHH sincerely thanks everyone who participated in the competitive 5K race and walk, we appreciate them going the extra mile to support our mission!

In so many ways 2020’s Human Race event was a success despite these unprecedented times. We appreciate the community rallying behind CSDHH’s campaign in the Human Race over a span of ten weeks and adapting along with us. While the race may be over, our team will continue to show how donated dollars are being spent in the community ensuring Access for All!

Deaf Awareness Day 2019

For the 5th Annual Deaf Awareness Day, we celebrated the day with some new and old traditions! Thank you to over 200 community members who braved the rain and cooler temperatures to watch Guilford County Deaf Education students sign the National Anthem, to see the first pitch by Dr. Sharon Contreras, meet the signing Frog Princess, to chat with friends, to spend Babe’s Bucks, and to enjoy live fireworks!

The CSDHH team values the collaboration of our community partners: Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Greensboro Regional Center and Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Davidson County for their planning efforts to make this event accessible and community centered. Additionally, we appreciate all of the UNC Greensboro students who volunteered their time to help ensure that all attendees had a safe and fun experience!

CSDHH would also like to recognize Reserving Royalty, located in High Point, and Sorenson Communications for making meaningful donations towards Deaf Awareness Day! Thank you for your support towards this annual community event!

See you next year!

18th Annual Community Appreciation Event

Last year may have been our best year yet! Our 18th annual Community Appreciation was filled with nutcrackers, zumba, fantastic door prizes, and great presentations about personal wellness!

We want to extend a sincere thank you to the businesses and organizations that donated to CSDHH to make this event a success! We appreciate your enduring support!

Thank you to all the community members who came to the decorating party and who helped to bring our vision to life! The party would not have been as colorful or festive without your creativity!

Thank you to Life Community Church in Jamestown, NC for their partnership to host this event in their space!
