We loved celebrating Deaf Awareness Day for the 8th time with the Greensboro Grasshoppers! As always, it was a beautiful day in downtown Greensboro, and we had 170 attendees gather for fun, chatting with friends, and enjoying the ballgame!
Our first pitch was thrown out by attendee Joey Ingram, and kicked off a fantastic Friday evening game. The national anthem was movingly signed in ASL by a local student from Guilford County Schools' Deaf Education program.
Several of our participants were involved in between-inning games and activities, winning prizes and having a good time. We also had the Guilford, the Grasshoppers' mascot, visit our section, to the delight of the fans!
We appreciate the Grasshoppers staff for hosting another great event, the DSDHH GRC staff for their partnership in hosting and planning this event, the communication access folks who made sure everyone was able to fully participate and enjoy the evening, and all of the attendees who made the night a success!
