Voter Education Presentation

All of us are getting ads, texts, and mail related to the November 2024 election. With so much critical information being shared about voter registration and new NC voter laws, CSDHH wanted to ensure this information is accessible in American Sign Language (ASL).

On August 3rd, CSDHH invited Dominique Bradley and Caitlin Metzguer from You Can Vote, a non-partisan nonprofit, to share their expertise about how to become more civically minded with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. During the presentation, we focused on how to check voter registration, the importance of voting, and the responsibilities of the different local and state offices. This information was presented in both spoken English and ASL.

We want to thank You Can Vote and the Triad Deaf Senior Citizens for supporting this presentation! Together we had six Deaf community members come and engage in a great conversation.

Power of Attorney (POA) Presentation

On March 4th, CSDHH and the Triad Deaf Senior Citizens partnered to host a presentation about Healthcare Power of Attorney. This was a great presentation filled with important information about the Healthcare POA, how to prepare for an illness, and how to designate a trusted person to make decisions on your behalf.

We had 21 attendees at the presentation, from Greensboro, High Point, Raleigh, Durham, Burlington, and across the state. There was a lot of good discussion and many great questions asked.

We would like to thank Shaun Arnold with Legal Aid of NC, who volunteered his time to present and share this important information with the Deaf community. Thank you Shaun!
