Friends & Families
Please note - Friends and Families was paused in spring of 2020, and has yet to resume in its previous form.
In the meantime, we encourage families of Deaf or Hard of Hearing children to attend upcoming Signing Social events - these are designed to bring together folks who use ASL and folks who are learning ASL for casual social interactions. Signing Dinners meet once a month at a local restaurant, and Sip & Sign meets monthly with many locations being more family friendly (frozen yogurt, coffee shops, etc.).
See below for a description what Friends and Families events were like historically.
Friends and Families is a program designed for parents who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, or for hearing parents of Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing children. Our group meets once each month at either our office or at an off-site location.
Our goal for Friends and Families is to help parents and children with hearing loss to network, to meet friends and other parents, to share family experiences, and to support one another.
From month to month we put together presentations on different family-related topics and coordinator fun adventures out in the Greensboro community! If you’re interested in learning more, you can email the Outreach Coordinator, or see when the next Friends and Families meeting is in Upcoming Events! Come and join in, this is an open group that welcomes all communication modes, identities of hearing loss, friends and families!
